The difficulty of this challenge cannot be overstated. Not only were they on their feet for most of those hours, but they had difficult terrain to navigate and hills to climb. When they stopped at the checkpoints, they used that time to bandage feet, stretch sore muscles and eat. As darkness fell, and the rain set in, the team had to dig deep through their exhaustion to keep moving forward. Move forward they did – and they smashed it.
So far they have raised £7602.97, which includes donations from their customers, suppliers, family, friends, colleagues and what was raised by their bake sale, raffle, car wash and curry! There are still some off-line fundraising totals they are waiting for, but a HUGE well done to the team! If you would still like to donate, please do so HERE.
Finally, this event highlighted what it means to be part of a team. The walkers and support team members were from different areas of the Fellowes business – office and warehouse colleagues working together to get everyone over the finish line. There were a lot of laughs, hard work and tears, but everyone walked away saying they would do it again in a heartbeat.
The UK Charity Group wants to encourage this camaraderie and teamwork by providing opportunities, all while supporting incredible charities under the GIVE umbrella.
