| An increasingly common request we receive from our clients is to transcribe foreign audio and then translate it into English. This is usually accompanied by a request to time stamp the transcription/translation to help when the client goes into their edit.
Here at Glocal Media, we would advise our clients that it can be more cost effective for them to subtitle the content directly into English rather than go down the transcription/translation route. The subtitling cost can be as much as half of the transcription/translation option based on the different charging methodologies – subtitling is costed per minute rather than per word. Apart from the substantial cost saving, the other major benefit to our clients is that they receive a frame accurate subtitle file to drop into their edit meaning no guess work required!
